What is CBD Isolate?

Since the passing of the Farm Bill in 2014, hemp plants and hemp-derived products are legally permitted to contain 0.3% THC (the psychoactive cannabinoid found in Hemp and Cannabis) or less. Cannabidiol (CBD) products are becoming more integrated into our everyday lives. Whether it is a friend or a family member telling us how CBD has changed their lives, or an ad popping up on your favorite blog. CBD products have taken the main stage and are only growing more popular everyday due to their potential therapeutic effects.

With so many CBD products on the market containing either Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum, Isolate, or Hemp Seed Oil it can be confusing to figure out which type is the best for you. Since all of Hemp Berry’s products are made with 99% pure CBD Isolate sourced from organically grown PNW Hemp plants that is what we will be focusing on in this article.

THE BREAKDOWN OF CBD ISOLATE?

CBD isolate is a crystalline solid or powder that contains only 99% pure CBD. A traditional extraction process removes all unwanted active compounds from the Hemp plant, followed by a refinement process that strips away all other phytocannabinoids, including THC, and any plant matter, leaving behind nothing but the chemical compound cannabidiol also known as CBD in its purest form.

HOW IS CBD ISOLATE MADE?

There are various processes used to produce CBD isolate from industrial hemp extracts called biomass, such as supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) or ethanol-based extractions. The same extraction methods can also be used as a starting point for the production of THC isolate as well, but typically with marijuana plants instead of industrial hemp. When the CBD extraction process takes place, many of its components are removed from the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, as well as fats, lipids, and other compounds. After that, the CBD compound needs to be separated from the rest of the extraction, which is done through a series of washing and separation processes.

The process begins with the initial wash, which is usually done with a mixture of hexane, an extracting hydrocarbon, and acetic acid. Once these chemical solvents are combined, the next step is the winterization process, effectively separating the lipids, waxes, and fats from extracts, followed by the removal of impurities and unwanted plant particles. These chemicals then need to be removed from the resulting extract. Rotary evaporators and falling-film units are devices that utilize heat and pressure to carefully separate solvents from compounds.

From here, the remaining compounds need to be refined even further through preparative chromatography, a separation process that separates cannabinoids by putting them through various chemicals at different speeds. Because additional chemicals are being introduced, they must be removed via distillation before the final product can be prepared for consumption.

Once all of the impurities and solvents are stripped away, you're left with 99+% pure CBD Isolate crystalline.

CONTAINS 0.00% THC

As mentioned before CBD Isolates contain nothing but pure CBD, so there is no need to worry about THC possibly entering your system or showing up on a potential drug test. This differs greatly from CBD products that are labeled as“Full-Spectrum CBD” which will always contain some value of THC in them. The amount of THC in a Full-Spectrum product can also be determined by where you are purchasing it. For example if you are buying online from a non-cannabis dispensary it must contain less than 0.3%THC however, if cannabis is legal in your state and you are buying from a cannabis dispensary it must contain a THC value higher than 0.3%.

We have heard countless horror stories from our customers buying CBD products elsewhere to help combat pain, inflammation and anxiety not knowing that it contained a high value of THC resulting in them either getting high or testing positive for THC at work. This is why no matter where you buy your CBD you should always check the COA (Certificate of Analysis) before buying or consuming it to ensure you are not putting anything into your body that is unwanted.

WHY HEMP BERRY USES CBD ISOLATE.

Aside from the fact we believe in only using pure ingredients and providing a THC free solution to our customers taking their daily CBD. We believe that the micro-pulverized CBD isolate we use in our products makes it easier for your body to absorb and break down faster, providing you with its full potential benefits with little to no waste.
